Update from The CEO

Thorndale Foundation takes the health and wellbeing of our employees and Participants seriously and in light of the current outbreak of the COVID-19 strain of Coronavirus in Australia, Thorndale would like to inform all of our staff and Participants and their families/advocates the measures we are putting in place.

Thorndale is acting as reasonably practicable as possible to prevent or minimise the transmission and spread of the COVID-19 virus in our workplace and manage the health, safety and welfare of our employees and Participants according to our obligations to Work Health Safety Legislation.  We wanted to take this opportunity to share with you what we are doing to make sure we are reducing the risk of spread of the virus across our sites.

RESIDENTIAL Our Residential service is currently in shut-down mode to minimise the risk of infection. This includes limited community access; however, group homes will continue to operate as normal and Participants will be given the opportunity to engage in a range of activities in their homes. Staff have been allocated to working in one group home only so as to alleviate any chance of spreading infection.

LLL (Leisure, Living, & Life Skills) Thorndale's day program being a non-essential service has ceased operation until further notice. Staff have been re-deployed across our other services and will work in their separate teams to minimise risk.

ADE Thorndale's production workshop is operating at reduced numbers. We are working closely with Participants, their families and carers to ensure this can be managed with as little disruption to their normal routine. Staff and Participants are working on a week-on, week-off basis so as to reduce the risk of contamination.

Thorndale always has our Participants and their families at the heart of what we do. We want to reassure you that we have taken every precautionary measure to minimise the impact on our Participants, staff, and service delivery, and we are continually monitoring and preparing for government changes which are rapidly changing.

Thorndale will continue to provide you updates with new measures to support our Participants as the situation changes. As always, thank you for continued support and trust as we manage through this time together.

Take care and stay safe.
